Description of Programme

One of the most historically important places in Singapore is the Padang and the surrounding area. The area is the birthplace of modern Singapore with the signing of the treaty in 1819, and birthplace of the Republic of Singapore in 1965. Buildings, Memorials and Markers remind us today of the obstacles, constraints and hardship the country went through to reach the world stage. We are the‘Little Red Dot’ that rubs shoulders with the powerhouses of the world, contributing in many ways and different areas of expertise to the betterment and survival of many. Sites: Memorials and markers at Esplanade Park, Victoria Theatre & Concert Hall, Arts House @ Old Parliament, former Supreme Court and City Hall buildings, Padang
