“Cultures and Diversity” captures the bewildering variety of life in Singapore, covering not only our rich cultural heritage and traditions but also the religions and cuisines of peoples who have made Singapore their home. What is a Singaporean and who is my brother? Areas covered – Asian Civilisations Museum, Thian Hock Keng Temple, Indian Heritage Centre, Sultan Mosque, hawker centres, Heritage Gallery, IRO Film Clips – UNESCO, Festive Light-up at Orchard Road, Chinatown, Little India, Geylang Serai, Maria Hertogh Riots, Early Migrants Story, HDB Ethnic Integration Policy Specific Learning Points • Singapore’s racial and religious harmony is the exception and not the norm • Natural fault lines and their consequences • Importance of community bonds and common experiences • Every Singaporean has a role to play
