Description of Programme

“Clean, Green and Blue” is an ambitious National Education tour which covers Singapore’s efforts and success in making a world-class living environment of all Singaporeans. It looks back at the challenges of cleaning the Singapore River and instilling new habits in Singaporeans, and explores the arduous journey towards achieving water independence and our dogged determination to be a City in a Garden, before it was fashionable to be environmentally friendly. Areas covered – Singapore Botanic Gardens, National Orchid Gallery, Singapore River, MacRitchie Reservoir, Park Connectors, Newater Visitor Centre, Sustainability Gallery Film Clips – Singapore River, Water Facts, NParks One Million Trees, Gardens by the Bay, Semakau Island, UNESCO Specific Learning Points • Singapore has come a long way to overcome its early challenges • There is still much more to be done to maintain and improve our way of life • Climate change will affect everyone and is everyone’s responsibility • Every Singaporean has a role to play
